North Yorkshire Police are investigating a series of fraudulent traders who have attacked small towns and villages in the county.
Yesterday, traders reportedly said they were “ambiguous about pricing and are charging price increases” to the Tockwith and Borrowbridge tarmac driveways.

Officials were wearing a Hi-vis and driving a white transit van.
A unit spokesperson said: “Fraud trading refers to the deliberate overcharging of inadequate goods and/or services by cold callers targeting older people and vulnerable people.
“Building or maintenance work carried out by people who cold call at addresses often involves criminal offences as the head of household/victims are somehow deceived.
“This includes charging unnecessary work, intentionally damaging your property in order to get money, leaving you with unfinished and intimidating behaviour to force your money.
“Fraudulent transactions can constitute a criminal offence under the Fraud Act (2006) depending on the level of conduct committed.”
