Mrs. Wen Chu Chen proposed converting the first floor office property, located at 29-31 Falbughreve Roads in Scarborough, into a store selling Chinese food and decorations.
The office space is next to Sainsbury and is a 5-minute walk from the town's railway station.
Mrs. Chen said “There are very few Chinese products for sale in the region,” and “there is a greater chance of purchasing Chinese products as demand for Chinese products and products has risen.”
The proposed shop will sell packaged snacks, frozen items including seafood and decorations, according to the submitted plans.
No external changes have been proposed and “no internal changes are required.”
Applicant Mrs. Chen said that the shop “can attract more customers due to nearby transportation links such as bus and rail connections,” as it is located near the site to the town centre of Scarborough.
She added: “A lot of local people living in the area want to access authentic Chinese products from China and many people want to access more Chinese decorations, so this will be useful for the local economy.”
The North Yorkshire Council has not yet set a date to determine the applications currently open to the representation.
