According to county police, the incident occurred between 11:20 and 11:35 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8.
Officers said: “A trio of men were walking towards the Lord Rosebery pub in Westboro, where they are said to have started a fight with a group of men and women who were walking near the Mountain Warehouse store.” said.
“The altercation resulted in punches being thrown at the victim and her friends.
“The victim, a local man in his 30s, appears to have been punched in the face by one of the three men, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the floor.
“He was taken by ambulance to hospital where he fell into a coma but continues to be treated for severe head injuries.”
The force believes the three suspects fled towards York Place in Scarborough before police arrived. They are now appealing for people to come forward to help identify the three.
