The woman endured years of fear and violence by 28-year-old Macauley Barry Robert Nesfield.
However, after he punched her with his head in front of a small child, he opened it and covered her and her baby with blood, she sought help from a relative who called the police.
Last year, Nesfield, Eastfield, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to forced and controlled behavior against her, assault and injury. The crime took place between 2021 and 2014. He was jailed for two years and three months.
Today (February 26th) the Court of Appeal agreed that the sentence was excessively generous and increased it to three years' imprisonment.
The North Yorkshire Police Witness Care Facilities incited the appeal following the original ruling imposed when issued in December with a five-year restraining order.
Nesfield exposed the woman to years of fear and violence by controlling her, hitting and punching her, manipulating the situation to control her.
She was too scared to tell anyone, but after Nesfield punched her into her head in front of a small child, she opened it and covered her and her baby with blood, she was police I called for help from a relative who called.
Nesfield has been in custody since his arrest in July 2024.
He pleaded guilty in October to forcibly control over actions, attacks and injuries. The crime took place between 2021 and 2024.
Many other crimes, including six count assaults, one of intentional strangulation and one of criminal damage, are permitted to maintain the file.
At the time of the original sentencing hearing, investigator Detective Officer Kelly Sharp, of Scarborough's Conservation Investigation Team, said: The victim in this case, like most people exposed to domestic abuse, was too petrified to go forward to report him to the police.
“She lives in fear and has been controlled and manipulated by him for many years. Thankfully, he is currently behind the bar. I can't help but feel that she can't hurt her. I hope that you can know this and live in peace.”
Following the rise of the sentence, DC Sharp added. We are pleased that the Court of Appeal has agreed that Original's decision is excessively generous. Domestic abuse and violence against women and girls are serious threats to our society, and today's consequences are that we do everything with our power to ensure criminals are off the streets as long as possible. I'll send you a clear message. ”
