Tadcaster Grammar School is closed to all pupils and staff today (6 January).
Principal Andrew Parkinson sent a message to parents on Sunday.
He said: “We visited the scene this afternoon While communicating with the school bus company, we investigated the situation of surrounding roads and schoolyards.
“With further weather warnings in effect tomorrow, we do not believe it is appropriate to ask students, parents, faculty and staff to travel while ice and snow warnings remain in effect.
“Due to an external power outage, the heating control system is also out of order and there is currently no guarantee that the temperature within the building will be adequate at any time tomorrow.
