He was knocked to the ground at Selby on Boxing Day (December 26), sustaining injuries to his face.
North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened at around 11.20pm near Market Cross, Finkle Street and the New Inn pub.
The force is appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
A spokesperson said: “We are seeking witnesses who saw what happened, security camera footage, and dashcam footage from drivers who may have been passing by.''

North Yorkshire Police said a man in his 20s had been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further investigations.
