SPARK:York, a community venue in Piccadilly, hosted a weekend packed with Oktoberfest activities to celebrate the arrival of winter and the return of winter roofs.
Last week, visitors can now expect a “cozy retreat” even as temperatures drop, thanks to the installation of a canvas roof, custom-built hotboxes, an increased number of heaters and a protective shield against winter weather. , Spark said.
The three-day operation, from 23rd to 26th September, was led by Leeds-based designer Sachel Clarke.
There's also new lighting, “Black Forest”-inspired decor, and new graffiti artwork created by local artists.
Visitors can also grab a drink at SPARK's new bar, Low Contact.
Low Contact offers a selection of European wines. With an emphasis on organic and “biodynamic” practices, the wines are unfiltered and unfined, with a low sulfite content to preserve their unique character and prevent oxidation.
The bar also offers a rotating selection of white, rosé, orange and red wines by the glass, as well as exciting specials that change frequently.
Spark's quiz and bingo game night “Quingo” resumes Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. The weekly event features two rounds of general knowledge questions, a selection of music, and a chance to win cash prizes.
In “Quingo,” participants who answer questions correctly mark their bingo cards and compete for prizes by achieving a full house or completing a line. The entry fee is £2 per person and teams of up to 6 people can participate.
On Friday, September 27th, SPARK kicked off its Oktoberfest festivities. As part of the celebration, various Bavarian beers were poured in German-style mugs, and some vendors served special dishes inspired by the region.
