Spirit of Yorkshire's flagship single malt whiskey is one of only three whiskeys to win a gold medal in the Single Malt (Non-Aged Statement) category at the 2nd annual W Club Members' Choice Awards 2024.
In this category, Campbelltown's long-established distillery Glen Scotia won for its double cask whisky, with Taliscar Port Louis and Glen Scotia Victoriana taking gold alongside Filey Bay Flagship.
Joe Clark, director of Spirit of Yorkshire Whiskey, said: “This award was judged in a blind tasting by whiskey drinkers from around the country and puts us alongside the two biggest brands in the world of whisky. “It will be.”
“Compared to Glen Scotia and Talisker, which have been making great whiskey since the 1830s, we have only been producing whiskey from field to bottle for less than 10 years.
“This is a big win for us.”
The W Club Awards are sponsored by The Whiskey Shop, a specialist spirits retailer with 24 stores nationwide.
Awards manager Luke Crowley-Holland said: “We asked each brand to send us their best whisky, and we asked our members to choose their own whisky, without bias based on brand, style or price. We asked them to give us an honest evaluation.''
“Each whiskey will be judged on four criteria: “Aroma/Aroma,'' “Texture/Taste,'' “Finish,'' and “Overall Impression.''
Light, fruity and creamy, our flagship single malt whiskey is made from 100% home-grown barley from field to bottle.
It was first bottled in October 2020.
