St George's Old Boys Association held their annual reunion on Friday 24th November at York NHS Social Club, White Cross Road.
They once again had a good turnout and organizers Tom Sweeney, Terry Bellwood and Tony Clark said former students were as generous as ever in donating to the raffle.
As previously reported by The Press, they donated £200 to Charlie Malarkey's New Yearswick Boxing (KO) for Kindness Club project.
They said: “Our annual donation would not have been possible without the generous raffle prizes and raffle tickets purchased by the Old Boys, and in particular the £100 donated out of his own pocket by one of the Old Boys, who wishes to remain anonymous. That would have been impossible.”
“May the night be as successful as it has been and long may it continue to be.
“A huge thank you to everyone who took part and a special thank you to the staff at NHS Social Clubs who were as always attentive and friendly. Also the Ged Bell Family for donating Navvies Breakfasts Special thanks to Lee Bell from Butchers.”
St George's RC Secondary Modern School is famous for its sport, with talented swimmers, boxers, footballers and rugby players all in attendance.
The school closed in 1985 and was demolished in 1996.
The “Old Boys” reunion has been held regularly every year since 2012, but the 2020 event was postponed due to the coronavirus.
