As previously reported by The Press, a weather warning for rain and snow is in place for York on Saturday 23 November and Sunday 24 November.
The Met Office said “heavy snow” is expected to fall in York on Saturday morning, with snow expected to start around 6am and continue until 8pm.
Since yesterday's weather warning, the Met Office has confirmed to reporters that Stormbad will hit York and coastal areas of the north-east.
Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Dan Hawley said: “Stormbad represents a mild change in the atmosphere and the winter threat will gradually diminish over the weekend, but on Saturday it will continue to spread across northern England and parts of Scotland. Heavy snowfall is expected, especially in high-altitude areas.” It's on the ground and there's a warning.

“Heavy rain from Saturday to Sunday will affect some people, particularly in the south and west of England, where there are many warnings in place.
“We expect between 50 and 75mm of rain to fall across quite large areas within the warning area, but over 100mm is possible in parts of Wales and the highlands of south-west England.
“Additionally, the effects will be exacerbated by the rapid melting of snow accumulated over the weekend and strong winds, which could cause travel disruption and flooding for some people.”
River levels remain low at Viking Recorder on the River Ouse in York. Despite Storm Bart's heavy rains, flooding appears unlikely this weekend.
