The road between Scotch Corner and Penrith was completely closed for much of Saturday (December 7), but Highways England confirmed it had reopened at around 7.30pm on Saturday.

Highways England said in a statement: “The A66 between North Yorkshire (A1M) and Cumbria (M6) has reopened in both directions following strong winds from Storm Dollar.”
“We apologize for the inconvenience. Please take care and stay safe.”
Elsewhere, Storm Dollar caused travel misery for motorists in the North East, with roads in Teesside and County Durham closed at various points on Saturday.

There are currently no road closures in place on Sunday, but Highways England has decided to close the A19 from the A66 to the A1046 at Haverton Hill Road to high-sided vehicles.
Thousands of homes were without power across the North East on Saturday, and several trees blocked roads near Great Ayton, North Yorkshire.
Several events have also been canceled on Saturday, including Stockton Sparkles and York Christmas Market, and Beamish Museum has announced it will close on Saturday.
