A spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11pm, what should have been a routine traffic stop turned into a 10-minute chase through frosty country roads around the Hunmanby and Maston areas.
It started when a VW Golf was spotted by TS Patterson from Hunmanby. A vehicle check was conducted over the radio and a report was made that the Golf was missing some documents. Once Sarge activated Blues & Twos, the 17-year-old driver decided not to stop.
“The pursuit was authorized by the control room and, along with other traffic officers in the area, TS Patterson remained stuck golfing and was eventually slowed down and placed in a box by the road police team.”
The driver of the 2 Hunmanby was arrested on the roadside and later charged.
