North Yorkshire Police say on Monday (March 10) a man was reported to have received a report that a 10-year-old girl had been chased from school to her home at 3:15pm that day.
The girl was walking home from the archbishop of CE Junior School in York in Bishopthorpe and walking down Sim Bork Lane when she noticed an unknown man who appeared to be following her.
The man did not approach or talk to the girl, but it appeared to follow her as she continued her journey along the cycle track towards Nabesmia Woods.
He is said to be white, around 60 years old, with short white hair and distinctive black eyebrows.
At the time, he wore a checkered shirt under the Navy, a Harrington style jacket, green and burgundy horizontal stripes on the front, black pants and black shoes.
A police spokesman said:
“We are appealing to the man to come to someone who can help us identify him and help us get in touch with him.
“If you have any information that can help you with the investigation, please call 101 and give us the information with incident number 12250043414.
“Local police teams will continue to increase their presence in the area.”
