Detectives have launched an investigation following an incident involving a firearm discharge on Saturday night.
Just after 10pm, police were called by ambulance service and reported that a man was injured during firearm discharge and a bullet wound occurred at the hospital.
The man in his 20s was seriously injured, but at this point it is not considered life-threatening.
The initial enquiries suggested that an incident took place in an Oak Crane parking lot at the confluence of Victor Street in the Manningham area after a verbal altercation between many men.
A scene was introduced to Oak Crane as detectives from the murder and the main investigators worked to establish the circumstances of what happened.
It was later revealed that West Yorkshire police were treating the incident as an attempted murder.
Councillor Safina Couser (worker, Manningham) has since warned that “violence has no place in our neighborhood.”
In a statement, Cllr Kauser said: “As your local Cllr, I was very worried about the recent shooting in Victor Street parking lot in Oak Lane. This kind of incident is very troublesome and my sincere thoughts come to the victims and their families during this extremely difficult period.
“Gun crime is a serious and surprising issue that puts lives at risk and threatens the safety and well-being of our entire community. These events highlight the ongoing issues affecting us as a community and the fact that such distress is being caused by Manningham residents.
“I would like to work closely with West Yorkshire Police, the Local Council and other relevant partners to reassure everyone that the facts are fully established and that the responsible person is kept to explain without delay.
“We must unite in addressing the root causes of violence and work together to ensure that the city is safe for everyone.
“I urge all residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity, engage key partners, including local governments and police, and to prevent further incidents.
“Violence has no place in our neighborhoods. As a community, we must become stronger, support each other and demonstrate that fear and threats do not divide or define us.
“I encourage anyone who may have seen or heard something that could help the investigation move forward and talk to police.
“My continued focus is to ensure that Manningham is a safe and welcoming place for everyone. To this end, I will continue to work with key stakeholders, including community leaders, police and residents, address concerns, restore peace of mind, and create a stronger and safe environment for everyone.”
