Founded by Tomasz Mlynarski and Marta Obchowska-Mlynarska, Black Wheat Club has moved to the former home of Bowler Vintage in Fossgate.
Opening on Thursday, February 20th, Kew stretched out Fosgate as people waited for them to enter the much-anticipated site.
“It really worked, we were overwhelmed by the positive reactions and overwhelmed by the people who just wanted to come and say hello,” Thomas said.

The media reported on the development of the Black Wheat Club, which first began in October 2024. Thomas said it was a “long” process to get to this point.
He added: But I think we got it.
“We got it where we wanted it.”
Offering handmade baked goods and brunch, Thomas said the Black Wheat Club team will continue to add to current food and drink offerings.

“Even so, we're going to develop everything. The bakeries, the service, the menu, we're looking at what works and doesn't, but that's normal for restaurants.”
Describing the Black Wheat Club as “a place where people are at home,” Thomas said:
“We are now open as a bakery and brunch location, and we also have takeaways for fresh focaccia, pastries and sandwiches.
“Suddenly we will open in the evening offering a wine bar and a small plate.”

All new teams see Thomas and Malta looking for around 15 of their staff, all new staff.
He said: “Everyone has done so well. Many of us were doing things for the first time.
“All the business at Fossgate was so nice, it came and it felt great.”
