North Yorkshire police said troops were called to Silver Street in town around 1:45am (March 8) this morning after reports of a collision involving a car and a man.
The squad reported that paramedics reported the man suffered fatal injuries and was killed at the scene.
A unit spokesman said, “The officers later found the car in Peasholm Gardens and arrested three men on suspicion of murder at their address in Scarborough.”
Scene Guard is located where the collision occurred.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said:
“To provide peace of mind to the local community, there is a high-visibility police patrol in Scarborough throughout the weekend.
“We introduced this issue to an Independent Office (IOPC), a mandatory requirement in the situation.”
North Yorkshire police have begun appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time and may have seen something or who has dashcam or CCTV footage by calling 101 and citing reference number 12250041634.
