Influenza hospitalizations rise in ScotlandPublished January 3 at 14:33 GMT
The number of people admitted to hospital with influenza has increased by 12% in the past week, according to data from Public Health Scotland (PHS).
The number of people in hospital rose to 1,537 from 1,375 the previous week, according to figures released Friday.
A PHS spokesperson said this year's influenza levels were at “particularly high levels” in Scotland and urged people to get vaccinated against influenza.
“Drop-in clinics are operating in many areas. Check your local health board's website and social channels for local arrangements, or call the national vaccination helpline on 0800 030 8013. ” PHS said in a statement.
NHS England earlier warned that the number of people in hospital with influenza was rising at a “very worrying rate”, having quadrupled in the last month.
