TWO people have been arrested after a gun was fired during “senseless violence” in South Yorkshire.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at a property in Lowmarsh, Rotherham, at around 18:20 GMT on Monday.
South Yorkshire Police said armed officers attended Dawson Street and found evidence consistent with a discharged firearm.
No one was injured in the incident, and police said they arrested a 44-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of possessing a firearm and possessing a knife.
Detective Inspector Claire Moss said: 'This type of senseless violence has no place in our community.
“We will not tolerate gun crime in South Yorkshire and we want to reassure the public that our teams are working hard to bring those responsible to justice.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
