The University of Bradford's Students' Union, along with the Social Justice Society and the Center for Equality and Diversity, organized a protest march called 'Reclaiming the Night'.
In the evening, students could be heard shouting, “What do we want?” Safe streets! When do you want it? now! 'Hold the placard in your hand.
Annabelle Grant Samuel, a female police officer, led a protest march on the streets around campus.
The protest took place from 4:30pm to 7pm on Tuesday, December 10th.
Numerous “Take Back the Night'' protests have taken place at universities across the UK.
'Reclaim The Night' is an international campaign aimed at combating violence against women.
The movement has its roots in Leeds and began in 1977 as part of the Women's Liberation Movement.
This was in response to the increased danger to women after dark during Peter Sutcliffe's period of murder and assault.
