The Fenay Lane site was identified as part of the Council's housing growth strategy, and following the land sales process, the Kirklees Council appointed a developer to provide the West Yorkshire site.
The house consists of a private market and affordable home, with Yorkshire homes once built to manage the latter.
Design work has begun, and Vistry plans to submit a planning application at the end of the year, aiming for construction purposes from the end of summer 2026.
Cllr Graham Turner, Cabinet member for Finance and Restructuring, said:
“By partnering with trusted developers, as a council, we can work to meet our housing needs without continuing financial input from us.
“We are currently updating our local plans and housing growth strategies, but it is clear that we will need to increase the number of homes built in Kirklees while meeting climate goals to address the local and national housing shortages.”
“We've been working hard to get the most out of our business,” said Andrew Poyner, Managing Director of Vistry West Yorkshire. “We are thrilled to be selected by the Kirklees Council and share our vision for the Fenay Lane site. As responsible developers, our goal is to provide sustainable homes, communities, and social values, and leave a lasting legacy of places that love people.”
