The town is particularly known for its fish and chips (and there is always a space for “chippy tea”), but Whitby “” and “provides” many others in the words “spoke” of the North Yorkshire Council spokesman.” It is located at the home of a restaurant. A wide selection of cooking pleasures. ”
Whitby's 16 cafes and restaurants will be taking part in the event, which will be held from March 3rd to 9th.
Already held in Harrogate and Selby, the event is organized by visiting the Visiting North Yorkshire, part of the North Yorkshire Council.
Venues signed up for Restaurant Week will offer special set rate menus of £10, £15, £20, or £30 to customers visiting the location and cite offers.
One of the participants is Beckett, a small, independent cafe on Skinner Street.
Owners Liam and Julie Fitzpatrick offer a range of options for breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee, homemade cakes, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free, describing the venue as a “serene place.”
The Midlands couple retired early from their educational careers and moved to Whitby four years ago.
Fitzpatrick said:
“People always say we are comfortable, welcome and calm, which is really important to us.
“When we started our business, we said that people wanted the cafe to remain more comfortable than when they came in.”
The couple said they were very keen to attend Restaurant Week.
Fitzpatrick added:
“It's not just fish or chips, there are also plenty of independent cafes like us.
“We are on the streets outside the port, so you have to make a little effort to get to us.
“We often get people who say, 'We've been in Whitby for 20 years and didn't know that this street existed.' ”
“So the realization that we can get for both our business and for others is great. It's community-driven.”
Councillor Mark Crane, an executive member of North Yorkshire Council's Open To Business, said:
Visiting North Yorkshire is a local radio station to promote Restaurant Week, this is the coast.
