The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice affecting the Yorkshire coast.
The alert is in effect from noon today, 21 November 2024, until 10am tomorrow. These warnings mean there is an increased likelihood of severe weather impacts that could disrupt your plans.
Here's what Yorkshire Coast residents and visitors can expect:
Winter showers and patches of ice are expected this evening and into the evening, potentially causing travel disruption. Showers will fall as snow on the hills and patches of ice will be seen elsewhere. Some roads and rail services may be affected and road, bus and train travel times may be longer. Icy spots may occur on some untreated roads, pavements and bike paths. There is a risk of slipping and falling on icy roads and causing injury.
The Japan Meteorological Agency recommends taking the following precautions:
Plan your route in advance and be aware of road closures and public transport delays. Revise the plan as necessary. Whether you choose to travel by car, bus, or train, please allow plenty of time for your journey. Be careful when walking or biking, especially on untreated surfaces. Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly and stay up to date with the latest forecasts.
