The pair returned to action for York in a 1-0 victory at Yeoviltown on Saturday. This is because the Ollie Pierce penalty was mounted over Aiduntone to score some three points in Somerset.
After replacing Cam John, Crukiss enjoyed a 28-minute action for City, making his first appearance at Minsterman since his 6-2 victory over Maidenhead United in November.
However, five appearances of the season have seen his game time being limited due to injuries, which was strangely not the same repeated set-off, but rather separate injuries from the various parts of his body.
Hinshelwood hopes there will be plans in place to give left back opportunities when he travels to Braintree Town next Saturday (3pm).
“It's a very good thing (to get the Cruke back). If he's playing a full season for us, it's going to be a difference in some of the errors we've made,” Hinshelwood beamed.
“We just want him to be available right now in his last nine games, with as many games as possible.
“It will be difficult from Saturday to Tuesday next week, but if he can get an hour next Saturday and get up to an hour at home the next week, the team will be a much better place.
“He's a great player and really adds to us. His strength, he's good in the air and his left foot really helps us.
“We're built on 3 so we'll work perfectly with Malaki (Fagang Walcott), Karum (Hau) on the right and Crukey or Camjon on the left.
“The Bats (Dan Batty) stopped by to make four and make the ball a little wider.
“There's still something we can work on. I think when teams play against us, they just try to protect the middle of the pitch.
“In the last few weeks we have had to work the ball around other teams and find other ways to create a little more.
“It's good to have that cover, Ryan and Crukey can both play at centre-back.
“If anything happens to our centre half pairing, we're getting a bit in trouble, so it's great to have them back for the depth of the team.”
Not only did he welcome two York players for the match, but Hinshelwood also blew away some sort of surprise with the notable absences of Ricky Agear, Marvin Armstrong and Jeff King in a team seat of 18.
Armstrong was the only one of the trio going to Yeovil and was involved in the pre-match warmup, but Agier and King rested to give Cruke and Fallowfield a few minutes.
The boss explained: “Ricky and Jeff King stayed behind. Marvin traveled with the group, but they weren't on the team.
“We were on that stage during the season, so I thought it was important that we were offensive with Ryan on the pitch so they could add to the team.
“It was pointless to have so many players playing in similar positions.
“Now they're getting a few minutes so they just add to our team and I think that's important in nine games.
“Now the team is up and there's real competition for location.”
