In a truly remarkable effort, York improved on their previous two campaigns in the National League, only twice confirming survival on the final day.
But with City missing both cup games and their focus firmly on the remainder of the National League season, how has each player fared so far this season?
Harrison Male – A
The goalkeeper has proven to be one of York's most reliable assets so far this season, often providing match-clinching saves and earning City multiple points this season.
He has been a major contributor to the Minstermen's clean sheet record this season, which has seen them keep 10 clean sheets in 20 games and concede just 15 goals all season.
Rory Watson – C
York's backup shot-stopper is a very solid option to complement Male, but despite Adam Hinshelwood's propensity to replace goalkeeper at the start of the season, he hasn't featured much in the National League recently.
He has conceded five goals in four games, keeping two clean sheets in that time, but is prone to mistakes, as Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Gainsborough Trinity showed. .
Joe Felix – A+
The right-back has put in exemplary performances all over the pitch and is easily the favorite to be named York's player of the year so far.
As expected, Felix, who played under Hinshelwood at Worthing, mastered his style of play and worked tirelessly in whatever position he was placed in. At right-back, left-back and central midfield, Felix has been equally reliable this season.
Ryan Fallowfield – C
It's been a good season for Fallowfield, but it feels like there's more to come.
The former Clubman of the Year winner is out of contract in the summer, but Hinshelwood has previously said he has struggled to adapt to Farrowfield having the ball at his feet more often. I was doing it. Although he has started just two of City's last nine games, he is still a huge contribution to the club.
Jeff King – D
King is still an attractive player, but we haven't seen much of him since his transfer in November.
King appeared in four games and started just one on Saturday. A player who hasn't really shown the form he showed at Chesterfield yet.
Callum Howe – A+
Howe has been York's most consistent performer throughout the season and has been an absolute presence at the back of the pack.
His partnership with Malachi Fagan-Wolcott was impenetrable at times and he even managed to adapt to a team relying on passing out from the back, despite clearly not being his usual strength.
Malachi Fagan Walcott – A
The centre-back partner has performed excellently this season.
He has shown incredible composure despite his age and it was a genuine statement of intent to make the move permanent on Christmas Eve.
Darragh O'Connor – C
The centre-back has been sidelined for several months due to injury and is a player who has yet to see his best. He looked solid in his cameo appearance Saturday.
Adam Crooks – C
Crooks appeared in four games all season, and although he has been plagued by injuries, he has been relatively consistent when he has played.
If he can find a way to overcome injury concerns, acquiring a left-sided defender of his quality could be a real coup.
Cameron John C
John is also one of the players who has suffered from injuries, and there is still consensus that he has the potential to be even more active in the future.
He looks solid enough when he plays and forms a good partnership with Tyrese Sinclair on the left.
Dan Batty – A
Another great player in Hinshelwood's system, Batty has truly mastered his role in the midfield position.
He leads the division in many passing statistics and does the heavy lifting well.
Alex Hunt – B
Hunt is a great partner for Batty in midfield and played his role perfectly here. His ability to get on the ball and move forward with Batty has been the key to unlocking opposing defenses this season.
He did not forget to record free kicks this season as well, scoring two spectacular shots.
Ricky Aguiar – B
Aguiar, another midfielder who joined on a permanent basis in the summer, is vying for a place in the starting eleven and offers a similar role to Hunt.
His ability to move into defense as cover but also participate in attack is underrated at this level.
Marvin Armstrong – B+
Thanks to his hard work, he is an absolute key player who only played a few minutes this season.
His ability to press and force mistakes allowed York's decidedly more technical players to thrive, and Armstrong gave his all on the field every time.
Paddy McLaughlin – D
With McLaughlin's limited game time this season, there is a real sense that this could be McLaughlin's last season as a City player.
Although he provides leadership off the pitch, York's improved quality in the off-season meant the 33-year-old was often left out of the squad.
Ashley Nathaniel George – A
The winger has been a real threat for York both centrally and out wide this season, scoring five goals in 23 games so far.
Billy Chadwick – C
Similar to McLaughlin, the improvement in quality is hampering Chadwick's chances this season in some ways.
Thanks to the game against Boston United, he was able to get some game time, but there is a feeling that there is still a long way to go.
Tyrese Sinclair – B
Sinclair is a threat on the left and holds himself to high standards, often showing visible frustration when he struggles to make an impact.
He has been influential and has made a good contribution so far, scoring six goals in 25 games.
David Ajboye – C
Once again, it seems like the winger still has a lot to offer.
He is yet to impress the world at York, but is in contention to sign with City or another club as he is likely to leave Peterborough United this summer.
Ollie Pearce – A+
He is the National League's leading scorer and a player of real quality who has made the difference many times this season.
Dipo Akinyemi – C
Unfortunately, he hasn't hit the ground running yet this season. Having played such an important role in last season's survival, it feels as if he is a victim of York's own success.
A move to the wing has limited his involvement in goal and Akinyemi is desperate to get back on track.
Renell John Lewis – B
Before his injury, 'The Shop' was City's top scorer and had a habit of slowing down the Minsterman's scoring.
He's back now and will be hoping to pick up where he left off.
