The bin is located in the Morrisons parking lot at Kingsway North in Front Street, Acom and Clifton.
It comes as part of the North Yorkshire knife crime crackdown, with 20 more knives bins installed throughout the county.
North Yorkshire Council said the scheme follows a successful bin exam at Harrogate.
“The Knife Crime Statistics in North Yorkshire are 2.5 times lower than the national average, but there is a desire to avoid self-satisfaction,” a council spokesperson said.
The bin is being set up as part of a joint initiative by North Yorkshire Council, York City Council and North Yorkshire Police.
This was made possible by grants of more than £15,000 from York and North Yorkshire offices for police, fires, crime and test-runs, North Yorkshire Council said.
Michael Pavlovic, executive member of York City Council for a safer community, said: I have it for my family and individuals.
“Transporting a knife always has a risk of serious harm. These bins offer an opportunity to remove that risk without the need to be identified.”
Cllr Heather Phillips, executive member of Corporate Services, which includes community safety at the responsibility of the North Yorkshire Council, said, “If only articles with one knife or blade can be prevented from being incorrectly obtained, these The bottle proves worth it.”
Joe Coles, York and North Yorkshire police, fire and crime mayor, said: ”
She added: “Therefore, the expansion of the number of knives bins welcomes progress towards creating safer places for everyone.”
“There's no need to worry about transporting knives to these locations.”
North Yorkshire Police Sergeant Paul Evans said the county's knife crimes are “a lot lower than average,” but “sadly, we deal with the devastating effects of knives falling in the wrong hands.” “He said.
He added: “We encourage you to use the new online map to find your nearest bin, then wrap your knife in cardboard box to safely dispose of it.
“You don't have to struggle to transport knives to these locations, and you're helping to keep North Yorkshire safe.”
Those who want to deposit a knife are advised to wrap the blade in either thick paper or cardboard and tape it as a safety precaution. Once secured, bring the knife directly into the jar location and drop it onto the hatch for safe deposition.
