They join more than 2.5 million Britons who have signed an online petition calling for such a move.
The move comes amid growing dissatisfaction with Sir Keir Starmer's Labor government, which was recently elected with an overwhelming parliamentary majority in July, winning 9.7 million votes and 412 seats out of the 650-seat House of Commons.
By 9am this morning, a petition launched by Midlands pub landlord Michael Westwood was approaching 2.6 million signatures nationwide.

The Conservatives, who typically support rural areas in north and east Yorkshire, are more enthusiastic about a new poll than York, which supports Labour.
In Rachel Maskell's York Central constituency, about 2,704 people (about 2.5% of voters, or about 1 in 40 people) had signed the petition by 9am.
In York Outer, Julian Sturdy's former Conservative seat won by Labour's Luke Charters in July, 3,695 people signed the petition. This amount represents about 4 percent of voters, or 1 in 25 voters.
However, in Thirsk and Malton, which is controlled by shadow business secretary Kevin Hollinrake, 6,307 people have petitioned for a general election, or about 6.5% of voters, or one in 15 people.
York Central Labor MP Rachel Maskell told reporters that while some people may not accept the election result after “14 years of turmoil”, it was the result of “very difficult decisions” taken by Labor. He said there was no reason to hold an election five years from now. A few months.
She told reporters: “While Labor's commitment to the people remains strong, the truth is that the government's neglect of the public finances is even worse than the Office for Budget Responsibility and other government departments have similarly assessed. Probably.
“It is therefore imperative that the Labor Minister fully assesses the current situation in the country when he takes office, and has had to make some very difficult decisions to prevent further recession.
“I have highlighted that I believe the government should have made different choices on certain aspects such as winter fuel payments to address the inequalities faced by many. The wider public needs to know more about how we make economic decisions to not only stabilize the economy, but also to address deep levels of poverty, so that we move forward and others are protected. We need a rationale.”
But the MP added that it was healthy for people to voice their concerns and it was important that governments from all walks of life listened. He called on people to “participate in a comprehensive spending review process that will be a better test of how the new government is delivering on its election promises.”
Luke Charters, who won York Outer for Labor in July, said: 'A small number of York residents and a huge number of overseas robots have signed this petition.
“As someone who was born and bred in York, it is an honor to serve as the Member of Parliament for York, elected by just over 9,000 people in July as part of a historic Labor government.
“With more than four years until the next general election, we are focused on making the tough decisions that will rebuild our country. I am committed to being a visible and accessible Member of Parliament. If you would like to share your thoughts or book your surgery, please feel free to contact us.”
Kevin Hollinrake, Tory MP for Thirsk and Malton, said he signed the petition knowing it would not lead to an early election.
“This petition clearly shows the people's anger towards the government, and rightly so,” he told reporters.
Hollinrake says an election won't realistically be held until 2028-29, when Labor wants an election.
He further added: “The campaign continues. We will not forget farmers, pensioners, small businesses and workers. They are all suffering at the hands of this government. We (Tories) will not forget We are doing everything we can to hold them (Labour) accountable.”
