Maya Hindmarch, 15, first came to Clifton Moor's Dominus Crossfit with her father to attend gym classes for the kids. Six years later, she hopes to create an Olympics with her chosen weightlifting sport.
“Maya started training with us when she was nine. Her father was a gym member and did classes,” said Rich Taylor, founder of Dominus CrossFit and Maya's coach.
By the age of 13, she began training with Dominus adults.
“After doing some classes, she started to do really well, so we moved her. We wanted to push her a little more with the main purpose being CrossFit.”

Celebrating his advances in sports, Rich said:
“We're all really excited to see how she rides the sport.”
Rich added that Maya has begun helping to mentor some of Dominus' adults and has expressed interest in pursuing future coaching.
“We've seen so many people start with CrossFit and fork into what they find and enjoy,” he said. “We just expose people to different things. A lot of people who hate fitness in schools come here and find a way for them to enjoy it.
“We love being able to help these kids enjoy things and help them take it seriously and find out what they want to do.”
