The fullback was pulled up during a warm-up with Halifax as he was practicing kick-offs ahead of the championship clash with Halifax two weeks ago.
“Obviously we lost Will Dagger in the warm-up,” he explained. “He was kicking off whether he believed it or not, and I think he's going to do a long layoff of two or four months.
“We did a scan and he has some tendon ruptures around his hip flexors, so it's pretty unauthorized around his quad.”

The Order is covered in fullbacks, Joe Brown has a slow switch from the right wing with the Panthers, and new recruit Ben Jones Bishop and rising talent James Farrar can intervene if necessary.
Brown had made his previous three games in the season-opening match at Oldham with a hip injury, but despite having to hurry back, the Applegars had no new concerns about Winger's fitness.
“He's been well trained ever since,” he said. “I honestly rushed the brownie. He probably missed it last week, but he couldn't find out how he went to his business.
“The brownies are back and we've now brought in a handy addition, a vishe. In my opinion, there's enough cover to make sure there's enough strike to compete in the way we want to compete.”
The Knights did not come through an 18-10 defeat to the unharmed Panthers.
However, with Bye Week taking an extra week of rest, he is expected to only miss a few matches.
“Ata Hingano broke his hand halfway through the game and broke his hand and played half the game,” confirmed the Applegars.
“He's watching three or four weeks, so I think Goodbye week gave him that extra week.
“We are getting there, and there is still enough talent for what we have (available) and there is enough collective unity in the group to crush those victories even if a few Kemen go missing.
“It's a great opportunity for others to step up and show what they can do, so I look forward to seeing them take action.”
Hooker Paul McShane is one of the options to slot in half in Hingano's absence. (Image: Craig Hawkhead's photo) Despite losing the Tongan star, the head coach emphasized that skipper Liam Harris has many options among those who could step into half of Sam Cook, Paul McShane, Jesse Dee, Taylor Pemberton and Jack Potter.
“There are a few cover options out there, but we have to wait until Sunday to see what we are doing.
“I have full faith. You see someone like Liam Harris. He's still there, our captain and leader, Sam Cook and Paul McShane, also played the seven. We have a young Jack Potter.
“There are plenty of options out there to spark some thoughts, but in my opinion, it is about sorting out our own game, having a calmness about us, protecting and defending the clinical nature of us, coming up with the team with sloppy discipline and not being able to keep the ball when we are in the right area of the field.
“We don't need to see where rocket scientists are failing right now. I think they need to fix it more than anything. As a team, we just make sure we fix those groups.”
Prop Conor Fitzsimmons faces period with Soleus' calf injury. (Image: Craig Hawkhead's photo) There's also bad news for Prop Conor Fitzsimmons. The calf's injury is likely to be ruled out for six to eight weeks, but Applegarth hopes fellow forward Jacob Gannon will return sooner, not after the cyst is removed.
“Connor, he's been watching six or eight weeks. He's trained and his Soreus was pulled just below your calf muscles.
“It's a bit of a sucker punch for Connor, but like I said, it's also a good opportunity for the rest of the squad to step up.
“Ganno, that's a bit strange. He removed the cyst from a rather invasive area just below his spine and near the cheeks of his chest, so it's a pretty nasty place and I don't think he can sit for a few days!
“He should return to full training tomorrow. I don't know if this week is a little too early for him.
“I don't think there's a long-term injury there. It was 10 days that weren't too comfortable for Gunno while he sowed, as it was just a case of them having to open the cysts due to infection.”
There is a light at the end of the injury tunnel, but after a knee injury, Joe Lowe fights and prevents him from making his debut so far after hooker Jack O'Neill approaches his return from his hamstring stock.
Applegarth added:
“Jack O'Neill should be two weeks now, so he's getting a little closer. He's just starting to fully train with his team.”
