The Mark Applegars team moved to Oldham Boundary Park for the opening match of the championship season (3pm), while York head coach won Hull KR in the Betofred Challenge Cup last Friday Maintain a team of people.
In front of a record crowd of Knights at LNER Community Stadium, York fought, but lost to a 44-2 defeat as the Challenge Cup campaign ended in North Yorkshire.
Applegarth confirmed that Levi Edwards will become part of his team after resting for a hull match that is not involved in the Betfred Super League side.
Olifield also avoided injuries despite being the subject of a strong challenge, and the Knights head coach confirmed that he had just received the wound and was seriously injured.
Joe's law has been absent after suffering a knee injury, and Applegarth expects the younger centre to be unavailable for the next four to six weeks.
Kieran Hudson and Jacques O'Neill both continue to recover from long-term injuries, but Brad Ward is set to miss the next two months through a hamstring injury.
Jude Ferreira was also part of the team and was able to make his debut after continuing to recover from the injuries he sustained with the Handslet Lions.
At Ferriera, Applegarth said:
“He missed the first two weeks of the preseason due to an injury in the backend of the Handslet campaign, so we'll catch up a bit there.
“He's Jude and he's really showing a nice touch in training, so we'll definitely see him work at some point over the next four weeks.”
