Lloyds Banking Group invited developers to build 100 new homes in Pudsey, West Yorkshire.
Lloyds established a housing plan. The housing plan includes a 93-unit affordable housing scheme consisting of both homes and apartments, with a mix of 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom facilities and green spaces and residential gardens.
The developer will proceed with the final design scheme to Leeds City Council for full planning consent.
“We've seen you get a lot of money,” said Mark Burton and Humber, Ambassadors of Lloyd's Banking Group in Yorkshire.
“The lack of truly affordable housing in our community means that too many people live in uneasy or low-quality conditions.
“We are working with local governments to understand where previous sites are properly positioned to support housing needs, and we hope that what we are trying to do at Pudsey will sprint through many similar solutions around the UK.
The Lloyds Banking Group is the first UK bank to enter the social housing market directly, but the initiative coincides with its commitment to reuse social housing's abolished commercial real estate, announced in July 2024.
Construction should begin in the second half of 2026.
